Award Winning Chef

Lian Jun Feng from Day’s Buffet restaurant in East Street, Brighton, has been named the best Chinese chef in the city.

Lian took on the best Chinese food chefs in the city in a competition organised by Brighton and Hove City Council, which followed a similar event which focused on Indian food earlier this year.

Finalists from four city restaurants entered the training kitchens at City College for a cook-off that was judged by the Mayor of Brighton & Hove, Councillor Geoff Wells, and food writer Andrew Kay.

“The winner of the best Chinese Chef from Days showed both incredible skill and precision,” said Andrew Kay.

“His competition entry not only tasted excellent but looked magnificent, a real tour de force.”

Councillor Geoffrey Theobald, Brighton & Hove City Council’s cabinet member for environment, added: “The competition aimed to get across the importance of good food hygiene and health eating in a fun and different way. It is also about highlighting the choice of places we have in the city producing great food.”
